The Ballarat CAE Mineral Industry Laboratory
The problems of education and research in the extractive metallurgy area are being tackled by the University of Melbourne through activities centring on the Department of Chemical Engineering. The establishment of the G.K. Williams Laboratory and the enhance- ment of the teaching of material relevant to extractive metallurgy in the Chemical Engineering course aim-at providing graduates and experienced researchers for the industry and at providing a strong research group carrying out industrially significant research in the area of pyrometallurgy.
