Design and Commissioning of a 40 Tonne per Day Flotation Concentrate Bio-Oxidation Treatment Plant at the Harbour Lights Mine

The Harbour Lights Mine situated at Leonora in Western Australia, mines a refractory sulphidic gold ore. The main sulphide minerals are pyrite and arsenopyrite. Due to the association of gold with the pyrite and arsenopyrite, gold recovery is not amenable to the normal cyanidation process._x000D_
A pyrite/arsenopyrite flotation concentrate is produced at Harbour Lights. This concentrate has been stockpiled for the past two years._x000D_
A bio-oxidation process (BIOX)* to treat refractory gold flotation concentrates has been developed by GENMIN in South Africa. Harbour Lights acquired the technology from CRL BIOX Pty Limited in Brisbane, to treat the refractory gold concentrates.
