Asset health process as a thrust for asset performance management (APM)

In our fast-evolving world, it is becoming more and more fundamental for organizations and companies to shift from a reactive to a predictive asset management approach. During the initial process of a system and/or an equipment design, it is advantageous to bring-in all the discrete information (eg sensor data, condition monitoring data, process data, etc) to a single location or pane of glass. Doing this makes it easier for site personnel to draw actionable insights and act on process abnormalities or impending failures on the assets. On the other hand, when it comes to the mature and/or ageing facilities, an investment to redesign can hardly be justified due to differing organization and stakeholder priorities. However, companies and organizations can still achieve more even with limited data by properly documenting the Asset Health Process and listing-down the guiding principles that were followed during the process.
