Development in Plant Practice for the Recovery of Gold in South Africa
The introduction of new technology into the gold-mining industry has been encouraged in re cent years by increases in the price of gold and the necessity for costs to be contained._x000D_
At most new gold mines, run-of-mine milling is preferred over crushing and multistage milling, and this change at the head of the circuit leaves no place for the manual sorting of ore and for gravity concentration in the mill circuit._x000D_
Flotation continues to hold its place in gold recovery. However, a decline in the demand for sulphuric acid may limit the amount of pyrite that can be roasted before cyanidation.
