The International Mine Management Conference 2016 was the third event of this conference series proudly hosted by the AusIMM. The inaugural event in 2006 was held in the midst of a period of high demand for commodities and a rapid increase in commodity prices. The second event was held in 2012 around the commencement of the industry downturn. Since 2012 that downturn has been progressively declining, with minerals-related companies adjusting their business cost structures several times as commodity prices continue to decline. The three day conference program held in Brisbane from 22-24 August featured influential and respected leaders of our industry as keynote speakers to share their experiences. We had more than 15 keynote addresses and 26 high quality papers. Our aim was to achieve a better understanding of where our industry is heading, where it should be going, and what we need to do to realise the true value and fundamentals of our minerals businesses.
