Life-of-Mine Conference 2012
The inaugural Life-of-Mine 2012 international conference
brought together engineers, scientists and all those involved with the life of a
mine - from predisturbance discovery through to post-disturbance recovery - in
the same place at the same time, learning from one another. With the inevitable
increase in society's interest in, and expectations of, the industry and its
environmental performance, there was a fundamental imperative for the industry
to change the way it operated. The program included contributions from around
the world that covered the full spectrum of risks and opportunities for
landscapes, and sustainable end land uses arising from activities and impacts at
exploration and prefeasibility stages, mineral extraction and processing phases
and during the equally challenging period following closure of operations.
