Experience with Capping of Tailings Storage Facilities for Decommissioning Projects in Australia
This paper presents an overview of the design and construction challenges to implement capping systems on Tailings Storage Facility's (TSF) based on recent projects in Australia. Key aspects discussed include the cover design and barrier system to encapsulate the tailings, designing for a service life of 1,000 years, water management considerations. construction on tailings, vegetation selection and agronomy of the available capping soils plus the Health, Safety and Enivornmental challenges faced in working on tailings._x000D_
