Controls on the Hydrology of Large Volcanically Hosted Geothermal Systems : Implication for Exploration for Epithermal Mineral Deposits
Recent exploration for gold on the Pacific Rim has utilised similarities between active hydrothermal systems and epithermal gold deposits. The major control over formation of such deposits is the hydrology of the ore-depositing hydrothermal system, which varies depending upon its geologic setting.
