Productivity Improvement Case Study: Use of True TQM in Developing Australia's Largest Underground Coal Mine

It is no longer adequate when starting a new mine to simply select the best equipment. Today's competitive
international commodity markets demand superior efficiency which requires systematic involvement of people in
continual improvement of production and commercial processes. True Total Quality of Management (True TQM)
principles provide an operating philosophy for maximising productivity and minimising unit costs of output. The
presentation will show the practical and successful use of these principles. This paper will introduce the case study
and provide background material on True TQM.
