Planning and Cost Criteria for Mining Infrastructure
This paper discusses the major infrastructure elements required to support a typical Australian mining development._x000D_
Infrastructure elements are grouped into four major types, urban planning, transportation, power and communications and water supply._x000D_
The design criteria applying to individual elements within these groups are briefly discussed as well as order of magnitude cost estimates. The use of simulation models to test the capacity of existing rail networks, as well as novel sources of energy generation, are also described.
