The Variation of Austenitic Grain Size with Temperature
The variation of austenitic grain size with temperature for the steels XKSlSO and XK9261 was determined using the vacuum ctching technique. It is shown that the effect of temperature on the mean grain intercept is relatively small, up to approximately 950C. Above this temperature the rate of increase of grain size rises sharply.Within the limits of the 1-4 hr vacuum etching times used the effect of time at temperature is relatively small on the ASTM grain size of the steels.
