Twelfth International Symposium on Mine Planning and Equipment Selection (MPES 2003)

Add to cart
One of the outcomes of the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development
Project was a definition of sustainable development in the context of the
minerals industry. This definition gives rise to the concept of a global
industry seeking to balance the economic, environmental and social aspects of
its activities. This mission, of course, lies at the heart of modern mine
planning, mine design and mine operations, and it was these topics that
professionals from 20 different countries gathered in Kalgoorlie-Boulder to
discuss during MPES 2003. The global nature of the industry was clearly
reflected in the eclectic makeup of the presenters who came to
Kalgoorlie-Boulder to share their wisdom with their colleagues from around the
world, and the range of activities involved in modern mine planning is reflected
in the enormous variety of papers that are included in the symposium
proceedings.
Topics covered include:
Advances in Mining Systems
Design, Planning and Operation of Mines
Exploration, Resource Estimation and Development
Geomechanics
Maintenance and Optimisation of Equipment
Mining and Mineral Economics
Mining Technology and Equipment
Open Pit Mining
Planning for Managing Health, Safety and Environment
Underground Mining
