Recovery of Old Mine Workings in Weak Ground
Over a four year period from 1984 to 1987, a broad range of ground conditions were experienced in recovering old workings at the Wa1hal1a mine in central-eastern Victoria._x000D_
Access to the ore zone was gained via old workings and new development. The work included: Recovery of vertical and inclined shafts._x000D_
Recovery of collapsed winzes._x000D_
Recovery of level drives and crosscuts._x000D_
Spiling through broken ground and old mullock._x000D_
Pre-grouting of caved zones._x000D_
New development using small-scale rail equipment and bobcat' loaders._x000D_
With experience, efficient mining practices were developed and high advance rates achieved.
