Design and Ground Support Monitoring of the Brunswick Street Rail Tunnels, Brisbane
This paper, one of two written about the Queensland Railways Brunswick Street tunnels presented at the VIII Australian Tunnelling Conference, 1993, describes the design and monitoring aspects of the railway tunnels built between Central Station and Brunswick Street Station.
The design was mainly influenced by the need to minimise settlement of buildings above the route. The performance of the design details and the monitoring of the tunnels are briefly described.
Appendices include extensions to the work of Curtis in the analysis of circular tunnels in a viscoelastic ground.
