Water in Mining 2003
Water in Mining 2003 was the first conference in Australia dedicated solely to water issues affecting the Mining industry. The event was an outstanding success in a number of ways: the challenges across a broad spectrum have been clearly established; up to date information is now available on technical issues and policy matters alike; and examples of best industry practice have been detailed. Given the success of the meeting, it can now be said with confidence that the Conference proceedings, available in both printed and CD format, provide an excellent resource which will be a standard reference for many years.
The Proceedings group papers within the following topic areas: keynoted addresses (three papers); water supply, with 20 papers covering access, engineering and groundwater themes; 15 papers on operational matters embracing water management, mining, processing and recycling; a disposal section of 12 papers encompassing disposal, environment and rehabilitation issues.
The Conference established beyond doubt that water is a crucial challenge for the industry and that there are many aspects to the challenge. A wide variety of people associated with the industry will in the future find themselves working on water. The Water in Mining Proceedings is a quality reference volume for all with an interest in this crucial topic.
