Metallurgical Society - Webinar : Challenges with Hydrometallurgy-Dealing with Impurities in Acidic Leaching Processes
Hydrometallurgy is a brilliant approach as it allows the recovery of metals from low grade and complex ores. It has become increasingly more popular due to the decreased capital costs and lower energy requirements than alternative technologies.
The advent of battery minerals, where product specifications call for four or even five nine purity, has challenged our methodologies with purification. This webinar will focus on dealing with impurities in acidic leach solutions in relation to subsequent purifying step, whether its selective precipitation, cyrstallisation or solvent extraction. Reference is made to lithium, manganese, titanium and vanadium.
Participants will gain an appreciation of the difficulties of achieving the requisite product purities.
