Janine first joined the AusIMM in 1991 and was admitted as a Fellow in 2009. She was elected to the AusIMM Board in 2013, served as President and Chair for 2019 and 2020 and remains on the Board as Immediate Past President for 2021 and Chair of the International Advisory Forum (IAF).

In 2020, Janine commenced a non-executive Director role with Base Resources, an Australian-based, African-focused, mineral sands producer listed on the ASX in Australia and AIM in the UK. She is a Member of the Base Remuneration & Nomination Committee, the Risk Committee and the Environmental, Social & Ethics (ESE) Committee.

Janine has a Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) and 30 years’ experience in the resources industry, encompassing executive management, consulting, technical and production roles, across base metals, uranium, precious metals and industrial minerals. She started her professional career as a Metallurgist in Mount Isa and later worked in various operational and project roles on multiple sites. Janine spent 10 years with the Iluka Resources group in Mineral Sands in Queensland, WA and Victoria before moving to Adelaide in 2005 to take on the role of General Manager of Minerals and Industrial with Amdel (now Bureau Veritas). She then established a metallurgical consulting business in 2009, undertaking due diligence work, desktop reviews, independent audits and acting as an expert witness in the field of mineral sands processing and tailings management.

Janine has served on the AusIMM Adelaide Branch Committee for the past 15 years in a variety of leadership roles including Branch Chair, Student Chapter liaison, Mentoring and as a member of the EEF and Playford Trust Scholarship Interview Panels.

In addition to her role as an AusIMM Director, Janine has Chaired the Policy and Advocacy, Nominations and Remuneration Committees, served on the Ethics Committee, convened the MetPlant Conference Series, sits on the EEF Board of Trustees, the Audit and Risk Management Committee and served on a variety of other committees and task forces including numerous AusIMM conference organizing committees, including International Uranium since 2007. She is also an active participant in the newly established ESG/Social Responsibility Committee and the Global Mineral Professionals Alliance and its Global Action on Tailings initiative. She is also on the Advisory Board of the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Orebodies and the Coalition of Energy Efficient Comminution (CEEC International).

Janine is a keen ambassador for the AusIMM upholding itself as ‘the Trusted Voice’ and for the diversity of the multidisciplinary membership.
