Health and safety leadership

AusIMM believes health and safety is paramount in the mining industry

We are committed to improving health and safety within the sector across all technical fields and disciplines, developing  risk-responsive practices for our global community.

We understand how innovation delivers significant improvements for health and safety and are proud of our members who actively develop their experience, skills and diverse expertise to drive positive change for health and safety in resources.

Our comprehensive view of health and safety encompasses the management of physical risks and the mental health of mining industry professionals. We understand how respect, positive wellbeing and inclusion works alongside health and safety performance.

Showcasing health and safety leadership

Key initiatives we have undertaken to keep our community safe:

  • Advocating to government and the community to guide decision-makers with balanced, credible, and current evidence for effective health and safety policy development and implementation
  • Delivering comprehensive professional development programs including AusIMM’s Minesafe Conference and online courses designed to foster adaptive skills and professional resilience
  • Specialist committees and societies, such as the AusIMM Health and Safety Society, support all health and safety professionals and contributes to professional development across the industry
