Titled: Environment, social and governance performance in the resources sector – Acting to Improve. The webinar will provide participants an overview of:

  • ESG concepts and emerging expectations
  • Tools and techniques to analysis ESG risk and materiality
  • How to minimise ESG-related harm and maximise value to resource enterprises and their affected communities and broader society
  • Why ESG performance accountability is ‘whole-of-business’

Bruce Harvey

Bruce Harvey has over 40 years of worldwide field experience in the resources industry. In his early career as a geologist Bruce developed an affinity for working with land-connected peoples and for 25 years Bruce has been at the forefront of developing social performance as a professional discipline and value contributor in the extractive sector. For seven years Bruce was Global Practice Leader Social Performance at a major mining company and continues to advise clients on social performance and ESG management systems and development consent agreements.

Bruce is an Adjunct Professor at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland, and a Guest Lecturer delivering ‘ESG - Leading Sustainable Enterprises’ at the University of Otago (NZ) MBA School.
As a member of the AusIMM Social and Environment Committee and Chair of the AusIMM ESG-Social Responsibility Committee had a lead role in developing the Institute’s ESG-aligned ‘Social Responsibility Framework’ and Chartered Professional criteria for Social Performance practitioners.

In 2021 Bruce developed and with colleagues from the AusIMM delivered the augural AusIMM ESG and Social Responsibility Professional Certificate Course. The course is being run twice in 2022 with strong enrolment from around the world.
