Professional bio
Mr. Medina’s professional career spans more than 30 years in soil and rock mechanics disciplines. Mr. Medina performed as a corporate functional lead for geotechnical and hydrogeology services for Barrick a major gold mining company. Currently, he is working for Geomechanics and Environment SAC, and his function includes geotechnical reviews and risk assessment for open pits and UG mines, preparation of monitoring guidelines for Tailing Storage Facilities (TSF) and mine structures, preparation of ground control standards for open pits and UG mines and development of key geotechnical performance indicators for Open Pit and Underground mine facilities including Tailings and mine structures. Mr. Medina holds a bachelor of science degree and professional engineering title from the Engineering National University in Lima - Peru, and possess a M.Sc. degree in civil-geotechnical engineering from Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil
