An important part of AusIMM’s role as the Trusted Voice for people in resources is to work with Australian governments to ensure regulatory frameworks are responsive and reflect the highest standards of technical and professional excellence, mining practices and industry developments.

The WA Government is currently consulting on a proposed Streamlining (Mining Amendment) Bill 2021, with the purpose of simplifying the activity approval processes for the resources sector. The Bill seeks to streamline the assessment of low impact activities and provide a consolidated approvals process for mining operations.

You can learn more about the proposed reforms here.
