Mining Industry 4.0 is the application of Industry 4.0 concepts to mining operations, where Industry 4.0 refers to a digital transformation of traditional manufacturing processes to incorporate cyber physical systems such as the Internet of Things (IoT), linked with cloud and cognitive computing. A software platform called VoxelNET has been developed to support Mining Industry 4.0, integrating IoT, cloud and cognitive computing. The challenge is to get various software approaches and IoT to understand each other i.e. speak the same language. First a couple of definitions so we understand what is what.
